Prenatal Care
Chiropractic care is an essential component of a healthy pregnancy. With all the changes an expectant mother goes through so quickly, regular care helps create a more balanced, flexible, and stress-free state for the spine and soft tissues. Dr. Lauren is Webster Certified, which is a safe and gentle chiropractic technique that releases intrauterine constraint. This technique allows the baby to get into the best position possible for the birthing process.
Each adjustment reduces interference to the nervous system- a vital benefit to improve physiology for both mom and her baby. When mom’s physiological function is at its best, the baby’s development is optimal. Balancing the pelvic bones, muscles and ligaments and improving normal physiology set the stage for an easier pregnancy and birth.
Postpartum Care
Just as pregnancy causes many changes within the body, the postpartum stage also comes with its own challenges and physical demands, such as holding that baby, breastfeeding, hormonal changes, carrying car seats, etc.
Due to the residual effects of the hormone relaxin on the spine and joints, the body often has a harder time normalizing bio-mechanics and function. Chiropractic care helps facilitate balance, alignment, and function to foster a quicker and easier recovery. Remember to take care of yourself, too!
Newborns
It is essential for babies to get checked by a chiropractor as soon as they are born. Many health challenges that show up in childhood or adulthood can be traced back to structural damage from birth, especially if there was traction used for a C-section, vacuum extraction, or forceps delivery. This can cause a subtle shift in the top bone of the neck. That shift can interfere with the nervous system and disrupt normal childhood development.
Chiropractic care for infants is very gentle. We use no more pressure than what you would use to check the ripeness of a tomato. Chiropractic care is also very successful at helping babies with colic, nursing challenges, acid reflux, cranial bone distortion, sleep, torticollis, and better digestion because the body is functioning, adapting, and healing better.
